Though last night was hellish, things got better. M&G came over unexpectedly to lend us a car for the weekend. Of course, they felt the need to bring the dog over and freaked my poor Ghostkitty out. I had to lock the little mite in the bathroom until the snorting Nigel Pug had taken his leave.

We called 2 dozen people this morning and made appointments to look at cars for tomorrow. So, with any luck, I'll be driving a car that belongs to me and is reliable by tomorrow evening. This will enable me to get Luke to work and for me to get to those interviews next week.

We've only got a $1200 budget, but that can get us a car that'll last ten years if we're careful enough in the shopping.

Speaking of shopping, I went out and did some of my own. I got PJ Harvey and the second season of Buffy on DVD all at that lovely 20% employee discount at B&N.

I don't know whether or not I should get excited about this whole vehicular issue or not. It seems that there are a lot of roadblocks...mainly that M&G are fronting it and feel the need to weigh in on our descision. They're planning on showing up here at 9 tomorrow morning. They did the same fucking thing when we went apartment shopping, even though they had no involvement in the acquisition of said apartment. When we decided on an apartment, it was one we had chosen ourselves.

We're not babies, we're just poor. We're perfectly capable of choosing a vehicle that is reliable, decent looking, and cheap on our own. And it's not like we're not going to pay them back. M seems hellbent on looking at some car with almost 200k miles on it just because the mechanic they know has looked it over and it's only $400. Yeah, $400 to purchase, but how much to repair within the next year? What about when it hits the point when it won't work anymore and we're stranded again?

M&G make me so damned angry with their perpetual lateness, their harping at us about money, their complete and utter disregard for other people when they decide to change their minds, their inability to see that their younger son is hanging out with bad people, disrespecting the girls he's sleeping with, using drugs, and drinking to excess on a regular basis. I'd really like to see M take a stand with Cub, but that won't happen. Her dog is more important.

I still have very little trust in her after she said to Luke "You're not going to marry that girl, are you?" Sorry to her, but we are going to be married. Yeah, it's going to take a couple of years before we're ready for it, but we've been together this long, through some really serious upheaval, and our relationship is stronger every day. We love one another so intensely that one cannot sleep without the other next to him/her. We finish one another's sentences, communicate without speaking, and laugh like we can with no other.
