So, one thing you should never do is upstage your family member (in this case, my uncle) at his/her wedding. It was never my intention to do so, and I'd have done anything to avoid doing it in the way that I did.

See, it's really not a fun thing to be standing there one minute talking to a long-time family friend and the next minute being on the ground and feeling as though I've only just woken from a very long sleep.

Yup, I passed out. Cold. Completely. Just crumpled to the ground.

Luckily, both the judge and the bride were late (though, my new aunt wasn't late enough to have missed the whole thing) and none of the festivities had begun. Just as luckily, my dad was standing directly next to me and caught me as I fell. I've got a bit of road rash on my right arm from where I scraped the stone wall against which I was leaning, but I am otherwise fine.

The ambulance was called, my BP was taken (normal), my pulse checked (a little fast), my temperature taken (a little low), and my blood glucose checked (normal), and I was almost not allowed to stand during the ceremony like the rest of the under 80 crowd due to intense familial concern.

It's never happened before and I hope it never happens again. I gave just enough warning that something was up though, saying, "I think I'm gonna ---" and that was the end. The next thing I knew, I was hearing the muffled voices of my firefighter cousin, my uncle, and my dad, asking me if I was okay. I was still unable to open my eyes and Luke had nipped off to return something to the car so he got to miss out on some of the stress. I recall mumbling something about wanting to get up, but my dad said, "Just lean into me." My shoes were removed, a chair was brought for me to sit in, it was all very confusing, especially the profuse cold sweating I was doing.

I am so very thankful for my strong family men, though. Before Luke escorted me to my seat by the ceremony site, I hugged my dad and told him, "Thanks for catching me, daddy." He, of course, looking as sophisticated and dapper as possible in his tux whispered while squeezing me, "I'll always catch you."
